Abs Swims, Bikes and Runs

"I may not hear the Rocky theme song, or see the sunset anywhere, but for me, this may be a sort of conclusion. An understated, rainy-day-sneakers sort of conclusion. An anticlimax, if you will. But the long and the short of it is that this kind of conclusion fits who I am. I didn't start running because somebody asked me to become a runner. One day, out of the blue, I started to run. Simply because I wanted to." Murakami

Split Time Hope

Again, I am dreadfully under prepared for the SCMM '11. I had hoped to finish sub 4:15 in this but now I am struggling to better my PR of 4:52. In order to run a PR, these split times seem like my best bet considering I am 4 kilos overweight with not enough mileage under my belt. I've divided my split goals into 30 minute slabs:

  1. 0:30 - 5 K (5K)
  2. 1:00 - 5 K (10K)
  3. 1:30 - 4K (14K)
  4. 2:00 - 5K (19K)
  5. 2:30 - 4K (23K)
  6. 3:00 - 4K (27K)
  7. 3:30 - 5K (32K)
  8. 4:00 - 4K (36K)
  9. 4:30 - 4K (40K)
  10. 4:45 - 2.2 (42.2K)
This is the rough split time I am aiming for. I am betting on the fact that I will use my speed at the beginning of the run to clock 22 or 23 K in 2 hours so that the second half of the run becomes easier. Also, I am certain I will begin to fade from the 25 K mark and won't be able to run at 10 kmph but will have to settle into an 8 kmph speed. The jokers in this pack are of course the weather, the humidity and injury among other things.

The nerves are increasing with every day.
