Abs Swims, Bikes and Runs

"I may not hear the Rocky theme song, or see the sunset anywhere, but for me, this may be a sort of conclusion. An understated, rainy-day-sneakers sort of conclusion. An anticlimax, if you will. But the long and the short of it is that this kind of conclusion fits who I am. I didn't start running because somebody asked me to become a runner. One day, out of the blue, I started to run. Simply because I wanted to." Murakami

Running for a Cause

Like I did last year, this year too I intend using my participation in the Mumbai marathon as a way to raise whatever money I can for 2 organisations. They will be the same ones whom I ran for last year. Both are headed by very inspiring people and both do some work which is really above and beyond the call of duty of even the most dedicated of people. We may all not have the guts, determination & an unexplainable drive to do the work these organisations do, so we can do the next best thing by helping them grow and reach out further.

Dream A Dream is a small but rapidly expanding NGO in Bangalore which equips hundreds of disadvantaged, vulnerable youth with critical life skills, enabling them to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives; ensuring they step out into the world as young adults ready to meet challenges in a positive way and becoming productive citizens of our society. I had the pleasure of working with Dream A Dream for a year and the experience has shaped me in a way I could would never have expected.

Atma, Mumbai was founded by an Australian and a Dutch. Their story is one of incredible guts and determination. An example for anyone who cares to listen that its posssible for us to really pursue what we believe in, no matter the odds. Atma Mumbai partners with NGO's, who are working in the field of education and children, to become sustainable and professional organizations. And therefore are able to positively change the lives of thousands underprivileged children in Mumbai.

I hope to reach out to my entire network of friends & family; and your network too. Last time around, your generous support contributed a total of Rs. 120,000 or $USD 3000 to these causes.

I hope this year will at least be the same if not more!
